Another pioneer of offshore racing has left us. George Peroni, 94, passed away last night in Florida. George was the man who bought the Formula 233 that Don Aronow built and raced back in 1963. George raced the boat in the Gateway Marathon from West Palm Beach to West End Bahamas. He won the race overall and set a new speed record for the race. One day Don called George and wanted to borrow the boat back for a day, as he had some guests visiting from Europe. As we are all aware the photos we have seen with Don and the Beatles, were taken on George’s boat. May he Rest In Peace.
