I have a 1987 Wellcraft 170 Classic that I am working on restoring. I got the engine running today with the ears on, In neutral it runs fine when I shift into gear and rev it up it runs, but as soon as I back off the throttle it stalls the engine. I put it back in neutral and it repeats all over again.

Any ideas on what I should check?
