Default OK to spin Bravo XR right hand after is been spinning left it’s whole life?

So I have a new to me boat with the Bravo One XR. I’m prop testing many props, some right some left hand props. The drive has been spinning left for what I believe most if not all of its life. I don’t know the Excact hours but it’s fairly low, 150-200 hours. Is it OK to switch to a right hand prop after it’s been ‘use’ to spinning left? I’ve read some posts about people having issues right when they switch directions.... maybe just a coincidence?

I have switched them before with no ill effects. Some people even swap there drives from side to side yearly to try and reduce wear. It is easier on the drive to turn RH as opposed to LH.

I switched to LH after around 200 hours. One or two outings later...KABOOM! Could of been a coincidence. I broke a stud off the top cap. I was also running a Maximus, which are tough on drives.

The should be no issue switching rotations. If something would happen to break, it was going to break either way.

Spinning LH does put more pressure on the top cap.

can’t imagine it’s healthy for the gears...they are seeing full fatigue cycles, loading the opposite face of the tooth... I wouldn’t do it.

I’ve heard people doing it to extend gear life...I’m sure some people have had success but i think it’s a band-aid.

This is not correct. The gears are still spinning the same direction and the gear teeth are still loaded on the same side. You are just switching the load from the top gear to the lower gear if switching from LH to RH

thanks for clarifying. Think I’ve been under the wrong understanding when people mentioned switching LH and RH.

The lower gearset does though.

But the failures of lower gear sets is much lower than the uppers.
