I didn't realize how closely the film followed ep. 15 of season 1, "Smuggler's Blues, until I saw a video doing a comparison. In fact, some dialogue from the TV series was put into the script. There are more than a few comparisons. Despite the common criticism, the film is pretty good, the show is great. I did a look at both the show and the film.

Sorry to disagree but the photography sucked, the dialog sucked, the casting sucked and the music sucked. Did I miss anything, oh yea the movie sucked. I liked the actors but I don't think they a thing to work with.

That Asian actress mumbled her lines badly, Colin Farrell tried to be too cool and Jamie Foxx just seemed out of place. The original Tubbs was cool, had flare

Tough crowd. Lol. Those night scenes were cool. I thought the music was cool. But I'm old.

There’s been a lot worse movies, A LOT worse. Overall I liked the film. Not an academy award winner but had the same feel as other Michael Mann movies, Heat, collateral, blackhat etc. I think the shoot ‘em up scenes in his movies are pretty realistic.

MV movie was a solid "movie". Didn't feel like MV though.
The movie took itself too seriously. Too dark feeling. The show had some good laughs to lighten a serious episode. The movie did not.
IMHO
