I just acquired two preowned 2014 Merc 8.2 Mags 380 HP non catalytic converter engines from a commercial work boat. Serial #2A188671 & #2A188670. I need to rebuild one engine due to a bad lifter and a galled piston. I'm probably going to freshen up the second engine. Does anyone have the bolt torque specs for this engine, from intake to oil pan? Also this engine has very odd pistons and rods, the pistons are very narrow in the wrist pin area and has very short skirts, does anyone know where I can find replacement pistons other than OEM? The rods are very wimpy and small looking and where the cap is removed, it's actually split (broken) and is not a machined surface like all others. The engine IS a GM block casting # 19165956. The heads are big square port aluminum with Mercury cast on them, however they look like Edelbrocks. Has roller rockers with the big pushrods and comp cam is stamped on the guide plate. I was very impressed with the components of this engine until I got to the rods and pistons. I'm sure that this combo is fine at stock power levels and Merc chose the rod/pistons for light weight. The engines are going into a fishing boat, so I'm just interested in a stock rebuild. At some point I might step it up to a 430 HO specs however all internal components are the same. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Best thing to do is buy a Merc manual for the engine. Call Marc at Bam Marine aka www.mercruiserparts.com
