Default Engine Level placement

Looking for some advice, I have a older seary with twin 454 7.4l inbords. Recently had to pull engines in order to complete neglected manifolds and risers. Shop did a great job and got me all done in a week.

Issue im having is that some how the Port engine seems to be in different placement foot print in the engine bay. clearance between the inner riser is less than a 1/4 to the deck. I can confirm the clearance from pics taken before the removal and re-install. In addition the engine hatch will not close and hits the top/side of the exhaust elbow.

Took boat back to mechanic and the they tell me the shaft and coupler is aligned properly and dead on. he does not have any answer how the engine apparantly shifted to the inside.

One though is that the engine may be out of level around the shaftt axis while still keeping the shaft aligned.

Is there any way to determine if the engine is sitting level side to side possibly dipping down to one valve cover while still maintain shaft alignment .

im concerned that i may be sitting on a larger problem other than just my hatch not closing

Any help / suggestion would be welcome

Thanks

Have you checked the engine mounts where they're attached (probably with lag bolts) to the stringers for movement caused by the stringers rotting out?

What year what model and size ? v drive or direct ?
sounds like v drive but doesnt matter really. No shop or mechanic worth his spit would let the boat out if the engine was hitting the hatch.
wheres the boat private dock or marina ? They slung it out put it on a work rack then refloated it.

the engine if it could be mounted upside down could be aligned, but yes pref level side to side.
alignment on a bigger boat id like to do after it floated for a day and relaxed, never on the hard, specially if the engines where pulled.

it could be like too stroked said stringer sag or it could be discontinued manifold, after market slightly different like
(oil filter mount or shifter mount or slightly bigger) and it bumps the hatch. So it could be nothing,

if the engine is not in the same place and the mechanic immediately said its aligned properly and dead on makes me think of a few issues.
did you run the boat and get it up on plane if so did you hear or feel anything different ?
