Putting together a dual ram system. Going to use a hynautic pressure tank so no power steering pump. Rams are 8” stroke (16” closed 24” open)

Any idea lock to lock what I’m looking at with a
Charlynn 201 1007 003

Doubt anyone would know the answer right off the top of their heads.

I think you will need to calculate how much fluid gets displaced (by both cyls) when drive is turned from lock to lock (full stroke) and divided that by the amount of fluid displaced when turning helm 1 turn. Would need to know the inner diameter of the hyd cyls. On the rod side of piston, the volume will be less due to the rod taking up space and the rod's displacement needs to be subtracted.

Probably be a lot easier to fill up a ram with fluid, push ram in and measure how much fluid comes out, then do the same for the other side of the piston. Add those 2 together and divide by the helm unit displacement (1 turn) to gets turns lock-to-lock.

I think what you're going to find is a low lock-to-lock number will be a bear to drive w/o power assist.

If you are using a Charlynn you need a pump. No way around it.
The pressure tank is used with a manual helm like the Hynautic. Won't do any good with the Charlynn.

Ahhh ok well that sucks was hoping to lose the pump. Be ridiculous stiff if I go no pump I’m assuming.
