Matt, as you speak with the many organizers of the different races and are up on the state of the Nation.....Do you personally think that there will be any 2020 racing at all?

OPA still has three races on its 2020 schedule. RWO still has two. Straight up? I have no idea but what's happened so far doesn't bode well. I am hopeful but not terribly optimistic.

There are federal, state and county forces at play here that are beyond the the control of event organizers around the country. In the best of times, organizing and producing an offshore race is a ton of work. These are not the best of times.

I know that's a weak answer and probably unhelpful to anyone making plans, but that's where I am at.

I talk to directly to large-event organizers almost every day. So yeah, I know what they're up against because they tell me what they're up against at the local, state and federal levels. And it differs widely from state to state, county to county. Name a large-event organizer and I've probably interviewed him or her more than once this year. And in the case of Key West, I've spoken to city manager Greg Veliz a bit.

I wouldn't presume to tell any of them what to do. But clearly, you would. What you call excuses, they call reasons. And unless you happen to be one of the large-vent organizers I haven't interviewed a lot this year, you have no idea what they're facing.

But please, by all means, enlighten us if you better know the challenges they face.

2 local very small events hosted by a marina were forced to cancel because the cities told them they cannot host a sanctioned event. It’s happening everywhere.

This is what happens when the population will not take responsibility for their own self preservation. If everyone would protect themselves and others many more events and establishments would be open. You're only hurting yourselves and others by professing your "Freedom". Now you have none so sit at home and complain, you don't even realize how much of that freedom you lost by protesting in such a manner.

I usually only comment on boating topics and do not get involved in the political or other related areas. But I 100% agree with tractionless and couldn't of said it better myself
