As the title states I am looking for some info on what the water temp gauge should read for the 496 HO. I previously had a Baja 275 and the guage read 180 pretty consistently and I never had an issue. I've recently traded it in for a cobalt 343 and the guage seems to bounce around a bit. It will hover around 165, after running for a while and then coming off plane I can see it bounce up to 175-180. Is this normal? It seems a bit on the hot side to me but there have been no alarms or noticeable issues. Water pumps in the cobalt replaced 2 years ago by previous owner.

I am at approximately 172.

My 2002 496 HO closed cooling runs 160, but after WOT and back off plane at idle may touch 170. even with river water now low 80*'s and air temps in the low 90*'s
