Default The case for a Mercury Racing 3.4 V6 outboard

I think there is a strong case for Mercury Racing to utilize the lighter 3.4 V6 as an "R" engine in the 225 and 250 HP range, optional gearcases, solid mounts etc. The current 250R V8 is a good engine but a bit too heavy and big for that HP. The V6 is a great platform, very similar to the V8 and there is a strong business case to broaden its range.

Agree, sub 500 Lb and hopefully, the aftermarket can dig into them.

About 50 Lbs lighter, lower profile. Should easily make 250 HP. I'm surprised Mercury made the 200 and 225 ProXS with the V8, those too should be the V6.
