I just purchased a 2006 DCB F29 with twin 625’s and I really like the Ilmor engines. I am trying to get all the maintainence items up to date. I don’t have a manual and I am not sure how to best get all the fluid out. I’m not sure how many people still look at this thread. It’s a shame they are not making the 10’s anymore. Thanks

Probably not a ton of help in changing the coolant, but here’s a manual you may find helpful.

Thanks for replies. The manual does say how to properly fill but doesn’t really say how to drain engine. Like sydwayx said there has to be block drains. I think probably mine have never been done.

None of the manuals cover draining the antifreeze. I gave Ilmor a call and they said there were no drains and to pull the lower coolant hose. I did this and a lot of coolant came out. I don’t know if all came out or not but it must have been most of it. I also pulled the end cap and verified everything looked good. Before you pull the end caps off the coolers order some 4” Sek-dure gaskets. It was a good thing to do this as I found broken off impeller vanes in the lower cooler of 1 of the engines. On my engines there is a purge fitting on the thermostat housing to make sure you get all the air out of the system.
