Default Any Experience with HCX mufflers

I want to dump my Gibson exhaust for something more free flowing that will take some of the bark out of my exhaust. Without mufflers I don't just scare the kids, I scare the adults too. I saw these on the CP site and wondered if anyone has tried them.

Worst mufflers for performance ever. Back in the day when people where using these, even 400hp motors losing 400-600rpm.

Brutal.
Way cheaper with exact same results to stick huge potatoes in there. Lolol

I was looking at the straight through offshore version.

Just to add, even though that's not what the OP was asking about...

When I was running those on my pair of 496HOs; that was not my experience at all. I lost maybe 200RPM and 1, maybe 2MPH.
That type of slip in "quieter" was just enough to take the bark off, and didn't draw so much attention on a lake that we frequented; that had a recent go-fast boat in a bad DUI incident with fatalities. I would just put them in for time on that lake only, and eventually they just stayed in a box in the garage when scrutiny wasn't so bad on said lake.
Your mileage may vary.

I should have included the picture to begin with. This is the style I am considering. I'm mostly out on Lake Huron and don't need anything out there. When I go down the river it will echo between the houses.

I'd be curios about these also. Anyone have experience with these. Just built new engines and idle bark is loud also.

Are those hcx silencers like a straight through baffle? They only show a side profile.

I lost 400 rpm using these slip ins with a 377 inch SBC. They dropped idle noise by 6 dB. The GBB slip ins dropped 6 dB at idle but no loss in rpm (spun the motor about 400 rpm more than with the CP inserts. The CP inserts now decorate my garage floor.

I gave up on mufflers. Now that I can get it to idle at 650 rpm down the river, I pulled the mufflers off and will hope for the best.

See if you can find a set of ggb inserts. No loss of power and takes the bark out.
