Default Back in the Game

Been out of boating for 5-6 year, building house, kids etc you know. Either way long term lurker. Had a fountain before and decided with a more family friendly option and got a Baja Boss 302 with twin 502 mags. Some questions below if some of you dont mint or anything else you would like to add.

1. Age old question what oil, Im good with mobil one assuming 15-50/40 type oil, not really a lucas, royal purple kind of guy with oils
2. Hows getting at impellers about as fun as my fountain I assume
3. doesnt have a swim platform, i know swimplatform.com has them good product, just not crazy with the look, any other ideas or parted out 302s or something let me know. Ive seen two with metal that look clean but a few places i have reached out to dont make them
4. Fuel assuming regular 87 pump gas is good, lot of 90 rec gas around here

I have seen 302s with an extended fiberglass platform. No idea where the came from but was pretty nice.
I think a alum one would be hard to mount- Not positive- They definitely need something as the factory one is barely usable.

The factory fiberglass extended platform was an option. Most 302’s I saw back in the day did not have them. Not sure who made the aluminum ones. You don’t see many of those. Great boat but a vapor locking b!tch!

I thought All the 302s came from the factory with a molded platform, never seen one without it

They came with what was pictured but from whateverybody says they are to small and just engineered wrong and people end up falling down. the link shows the factor option bigger one. Think they are more precvelent in the later year ones as people were finding out the stock ones sucked. Pre 2000s a lot of them seem to have less.

I’m speaking of the extended platform that bolts on behind the all but worthless molded-in platform shown here.

No. Not sure if it was an option all along or not, they made these from like 95-2006 or something, most of the newer ones did, but pre 2000 it was spotty, think people got wise after a while.

our 29 Outlaw was really bad about this also. My mech took all the cool fuel chit out or something around those lines and never had the problem again.
