Default 502 Mag MPI whipple, procharger or built motor top speed

I have a 1996 Crownline 225 CCR with rebuilt 502 Mag MPI. So my question is adding a whipplecharger or procharger or even building the engine shouldnt make its top speed much fast right? Same boat with a bravo 1 outdrive has a 1.5 gear ratio but the rev limiter cuts at 5150 so does it even help? If the engine is turning 5150 then having anything else doesnt really help or am i wrong.

They let the motor turn a prop with more pitch resulting in a faster speed.

more power = turn bigger prop
less power = less headache

For the builds that make more hp at higher rpm , you can have doneone remove or raise the rev limiter setting.

And you would likely raise the rev limiter when tuning to achieve max HP for the cam/head combo built.

stay conservative, a procharger is a great all around super charger. Whipple is probably a little more serious with noise and height and mods. You will enjoy so much more acceleratio as it will seem effortless. You can prop to higher pitch if you want more speed, but you need to consider your hull design if it made for speed.

This answered my question. Turning a bigger prop does equal faster top speed. Thanks.

At some point, your drive will be your limiting factor
