Haven't been on in a while. I am wanting to finish up a long dormant project. I have some barely used Rochester/Delphi injectors from a motor that lost #7 after just 6-7 hours. This was 20 years ago -HA! There was a couple of guys here on the forum, Arctic and BUP that were flow testing injectors the last time I remember. I see no reason to not try to reuse these if they are sized right for right at 500 HP gross. The part number reads 17090304 . There is very little info that I could find on this injector. I bought them from Arizona Speed & Marine in 1999. From my research they are 38.2# @ 43.5 fuel pressure, hi impedance injectors. They were originally part of a MEFI 1 system which I plan to reuse as everything was barley used and is in like new condition.
-Are these injectors sized right for 500HP?
-Are these injectors now inferior to the new stuff now available?
-How much is a flow test? If it's $$$, then maybe I should just put towards new injectors.
-If the old MEFI 1 system shoots craps, will the newer Holley controllers run these injectors?
thanks in Advance!

Ya tough call when you can buy them around $40 each for smaller ones like that .i was just searching this same thing on line and found same Delphi top feed 75# low imp for $60 . I figure I might as well have them in hand so I can pop them in and have it back together in no time with no waiting.

Does $40 actually buy a high quality injector? If the 38#'rs are not optimal for 500hp, I would rather just pony up for new injectors of the correct size, especially if the quality surpasses the originals.

Smitty "Arctic Friends" is a great guy who will treat you right. He owns his own brand new top of the line equipment upgraded recently. He will flow and match them.

I have been cleaning, flowing, and testing injectors for over 5 yesrs. 2 years ago I upgraded my flow bench to the industry standard, ASNU. 38 lb injectors will support about 620 hp @100% duty [email protected] BSCF and 3 bar, 43.5 psi
at 500 hp, they are perfectly happy, fwiw.
You could buy new injectors, keep.in.mind though, your tuneay need to be re-done, Smitty
