Would it be a bad idea to pay 30,000
for a 1998 29 ft wellcraft scarab . boat Engine is a HP 500 mercury blue and the outdrive is a bravo one I Imco .
the problem I have is it it has been sitting for two years . They got it running and it float and drives in the water
but am I looking for a canna worms . Any suggestions would help thank you

Have a professional marine survey done to be 100% sure it’s solid. 500efi or carb? Typical motor checkout should be done as well if they “got it running”. Compression test at the minimum. If it’s legit it doesn’t sound like a bad deal depending on the cosmetics as well. Two years isn’t that long if it was prepped and stored properly.

Wellcrafts are known for water intrusion in the stringers as they did not glass them in entirely from what I have seen personally. She won't be very fast with a single. Docking in winds will be difficult with a single also. As IGETWET stated get a survey on the hull at a minimum. Best of luck to you.
