I have some family in the Vero Beach area and was wondering what the Indian River was like. Beaches, restaurant, bars etc. We are looking at renting a house for about 10 days sometime in 2021. Preferably on the water with a boat stall or dock for my 24ft Cobalt. The little bit Ive researched online it looks like a pretty cool area to boat. Ive ridden my bike through there in 2017 on my way to Keywest but didn't hang out for long. Any and all opinions welcome.

I have been to Vero countless times growing up and most recently around 2 years ago. The whole area seems to be older retired folks with not much nightlife from what I can tell. The waterways look beautiful and I am sure the boating is awesome. Maybe someone from that area can chime in with more info but that was just my observation.

I have family that lives in Vero Beach. We visit usually once a year. They have some night life, (bars and restaurants) , but there are also a lot of retired folks. Nice area for sure kinda of a small town vibe even though its pretty big. I almost moved there a few years ago. I haven't been on the Indian River yet myself though so cannot comment on that.

Spent 9 yrs between there and Sebastian.
Due to snow birds and blue hairs, much preferred Sebastian.
Traffic in Vero sucks!
All 80+, no turn signals, no rite of way, etc.
About the only thing waterside worthwhile in Vero is the Riverside Cafe/Bar.
On the River by one of the bridges.
Rt 60 I think.
Decent docks, great food and entertainment on weekends.
Next town south is Ft Pierce w/nothing water front but a nice/popular sand bar.
Sebastian (next town north) is the ****, IMO.
Earls Hideaway (across street from the IC but ankle deep water) has killer bands on Sundays and tons of bikes when weather is nice.
Cap Hiram’s is a 1/2 mile north of there.
A tourist trap but very well done.
As a boater, one of my favorite things of that part of the IC are all the spoil islands.
Almost all are accessible by boat.
Drawback to that area is lack of water front properties.
Youll be hard pressed to find a water front rental other than the ones on river front in Sebastian.

Twin O/B Sonic My aunt and uncle live right across from the Moorings yacht and country club on A1A. I would be fine renting a place close to a marina so i can leave my boat in the water. I haven't set a date yet so I have plenty of time. Im definitely excited about exploring the area by boat. I rode my bike through there going to Key West a couple of years ago but that was more of a party hell raising trip with some biker buddies. This will be a family low key vacation. Looking at some pictures of the area it looks like it would be some pretty nice snorkeling. Oh and thank you for the info...

Probably more rentals on A1A in that area than on mainland.
Cpt Hiram’s in Sebastian has a hotel w/docks available.
The river between Vero and Sebastian has some gorgeous water front places.
We always stopped for a beer in front of our favorite places.
We called it millionaire row.
The Vero city marina has a few transient docks but most of it is mooring balls.
Be 2-300 boats there in season.
