Default 6.2 MX MPI Build

Morning All,
New member here.. not new to boating, mechanics, blah.... So this winter (mainly for something to so) im going to build a MX6.2 MPI I have a 880 block, 906 heads and a Merc Bravo 6.2MX 555 ECM as my base. A few questions i have i cant seem to get info on. First is the camshaft. i have no problem running the Merc 431-862562T1 cam unless there is a much better bang for the buck cam you all can recommend without requiring an ECM flash? I am leaning towards an Eagle rotating assembly for the stroker kit, however the next thing im not sure about is the -cc required or the compression height on the pistons to achieve the stock 9.0:1 compression. Again im just trying to build it as close to the way merc did. The end goal with it will be the 320hp, nothing radical. Its going in a 25' Chap bowrider. The boat currently has a 5.0 MPI B3 set up. Its actually not bad its just not good. So this it really just a build to make it the way it should have come new and i have always wanted to build a small block.

Thanks Guys!

I think you will need about a 22cc dish but it really is going to depend on how your parts measure. The heads are usually about 62 cc but they do vary some. Same with block deck hgt. Whichever kit you order make sure that the rods are clearanced for the stroke so they clear the camshaft. I just balanced a Mercruiser one last week and I was surprised at how much they had ground off the rods.

So your first step will be to get the heads cc'd and the block deck checked to see what you have to start out with. You will probably have to deck the block some to get it square.

I see how you said you pretty much want to duplicate the OEM build. Anyways, this is a good read and a well done project regarding the 6.2.
