New member to this forum site and fairly new to boats but have been doing a lot of reading and been on this site a lot it seems.
Right now i own a 1993 Four Winns Horizon 230, does not have an engine in it and back 1/3 of floor is rotted and needs replaced, rest of the boat and trailer are "ok" and need general cleaning up, i got it for free with a seized 351W in it. my plan is to LS swap it and see where that goes (ive LS swapped a hand full of cars already so the engine/electrical aspect ive got down, just learning boat/marine stuff). issue with it is it also has an OMC out drive which ive read are just junk. now with all that being said a friend has a 1990 arriva 2450 that had a 502BBC with a bravo 1, he sold the engine but still has trailer/hull/outdrive, i was asking about possibly getting the bravo 1 from him and i was wondering if id just be better off trading him my four winns for his arriva so i dont have to swap out drives, make it fit and fix the floor. ive read hit and miss things with the Arrivas and there quality so i guess what im asking is would i be better off fixing my four winns and fitting the Bravo 1 to it because its a better hull all around (if thats even true) or should i take the Arriva and build it? plan is ether a 400-450hp LS but could get to a 600hp+ engine if i end up keeping the boat and getting bored enough lol, will be used mainly rivers/bays. im in VA so chesapeak bay would be the most open water id ever take it and that would be "going out far" for me at least.
Thanks!
