Default Crack in Gelcoat help

Hello,

I have a 2005 Sunsation 288. There is a crack in the bottom of my hull about 8 inches long. I can’t feel it. The pic with the tape is where it starts then it goes underneath the boat.

Any idea of what is going on?

It is likely just a stress crack. If gel is too thick or too thin, it can crack on areas like that, as fiberglass is made to flex.
HOWEVER, boats have had an entire chine separate from the hull I agree with the above, you need to get Sunsation's direct opinion.

Thanks for replying. I’m bringing my boat in to my dealer for storage and service next week and will have them look at it. I hope I’m overreacting but this has me concerned.

I will call the factory today and see if someone could take a look.
