Got an OEM u-bolt delivered and to my surprise it was bigger than the old one. After some googling I found out that there are indeed the original 3/8 bolt and the new 7/16, but how are you supposed to use the new one when there's no room? Are you supposed to drill the gimbal? Not very fond of that idea but if that's how it's done, then so be it I guess--

Thank you! That's interesting, mine is labeled "8M0120158" and it's the only one that one of the biggest retailers stocks. I see now that It actually says "Heavy Duty" in their catalog but nothing else so I thought it was a stronger material or something. But now I know better, and I won't have to drill my gimbal
Might try to order the stronger one like JR Marine's. Are there any more retailers that sell stainless 17-4 u-bolt with Monel-material lock nuts? Preferably on the east coast since I live in Sweden and the shipping might be affected.

Got my answer in another thread here:
"JR Marine Stainless U-Bolt Better then Stock???? Bravo 3"
Newer gimbals have 7/16 holes and older like mine have 3/8. You don't drill, you get the correct sized u-bolt (preferably stronger than original). Thanks to you who helped clearing the issue.
