One of the fishing tournaments in SW FL is the Sarasota Slam.
In 2012 one team ran a trip Yamaha contender from Marina Jack in Sarasota, mostly at night, to Venice La, refueled and fished the oil rigs and ran back to Sarasota to make the weigh in. They covered 1150 NM in three and a half days.
