Two year wait time; some folks want a boat RIGHT NOW. There is actually a busy sellers market for build SLOTS at Skater, MTI, and NorTech. Given that there are long lead times, and inventory is slim; some folks are willing to sell their new boat, perhaps with a future close date after a significant event. This can also work well for a boat like this 438 with 8 passenger seating where current and future owner (&squad) can enjoy the boat on a couple of events during transition.

I also think some people enjoy the build process as much or more as the boat itself so if they can get their money back or make a little and do it again then they get to have two more years of fun.

I've heard that again and again from a lot of Skater owners, that they enjoy the process.
