Default scan tools. Which one?

Looking for a scan tool. So far I've found:

MEFIpro = $195 for program and cable
MEFIburn = $205 for program and cable
Rinda Diacom = ~$575 for program and cable (ebay)
Rinda Techmate Pro = ~$800 for standalone unit (ebay)

Are there any other options? Does one company do it better than another? I don't have any plans for aftermarket engine parts or tuning, this would just be for troubleshooting any engine issues I come across in the future. I'm kind of surprised I can't use an automotive OBDII setup.

Currently have 5.7 GXI-F which I believe is MEFI-4B although haven't pulled the ECU to look at the PN on the back.

Thanks

Matt

I went with Rinda Diacom PC based because it can record/graph live parameters which is good for picking up issues that only are present intermittently. Haven't needed that feature yet but ready.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but argent these just a K-Line interface (ISO9141) with a different pinout? so in theory any K-Line tool (as cheap as $25) will work if the pinout lines up correctly? I have several tools that do all the protocols, just no EFI boat to prove my theory.

I just bought a Rinda Techmate Pro, it was cheaper to go direct than anywhere else. Haven't used or open it yet but excited to see how it works.
Anyone know what this unit should show me on a 1999 502MPI? How easy is it to use?

Ive used the Rinda Diacom on a PC on a Mercruiser 2006 SBC. If you have ever used a Snap On scanner, dont expect the same level of information. Even though the engine has sensors on it for everything, the Rinda would not display those values. We were having a issue with the engine cutting out a few minutes after it got warm. No codes were set. The engine would just cut off. Fuel pressure never dropped. The only sensor the Rinda would not display was the crank position and that was what the problem was. It would heat up and cut the engine off. I think having a laptop is nice because you can see the info on a bigger screen rather than a small screen of one of the handhelds.
