Question Mercruiser 350 Mag MPI - Smaller Sea Water Pump Pulley

Hi guys

Doe anybody know if there is a smaller sea water pump pulley available for my Mercruiser 350 Mag MPI?
I require a smaller one due to an engine swap I'm doing.

The original one does have an outer diameter of 5.7" (part number 8M0150724).
Something around 5" would be preferred.

Doe anyone know of a pulley which could work?

Martin, do you have V belts or ribbed/serpentine? I ask because with a V-belt you could switch to a crank-mounted Johnson-style pump (IMO, much better/easier to service that the Merc pump). It bolts directly to the crank pulley and is driven off the front of the engine.

Isn't that how your Volvo was setup?

Do you need this because it won't fit or because you are trying to increase water flow??

Hi guys

I have the ribbed serpentine belt fitted, so the sea water pump sits next to the crankshaft.

Changing it to a crankshaft mounted one could work but then I don't know what belt length yo use, could potentially be measured though or I find one of a small block car engine which does not have a sea water pump.
Yes, the 454 Volvo Penta engine had a crankshaft mounted one.

I need it because of space/package issues I'm getting with the engine swap.
The current pulley wheel is touching the beam on which the engine is standing inside the engine bay.

A smaller pulley would be easiest I think so i can carry over the entire setup + a slightly shorter belt in case the tensioner cannot deal with it.

Sounds like a plan. I'd check power steering pulley sizes. I think they are the same shaft. I'd guess any power steering pulley that fits the center shaft size would work.

Yes that's what I thought as well but it seems like that all power steering pump pulleys are bigger.

Does anybody know what belt length I'd need in case I swap to a crankshaft mounted Johnson style pump?

I would love to be able to install a crank mounted pump, but that's not your issue

Could use a fiber tape and wrap around the pulleys and get a good idea of how long. Then use the Gates catalog to determine part number to replace
