Hmmmm....interesting but not sure how viable it will be. Ilmore hasn't exactly set the world on fire with their V-10 offering, for comparison. That is a LONG engine with a LONG crankshaft. I wish them luck but...

Seems as though you’re essentially adding the weight of 4 engines. For reasonable power of 2 motors …. I mean 1400 is run of the mill these days what’s the added benefit of going v16 other than saying they are v16.

Ilmor was working on a supercharger for their V-10 platform when the bottom dropped out of the HP stern drive market in 2008-09. Not long afterwards Ilmor scraped the entire V-10 platform. They didn't think the market would be big enough going forward to support them and Mercury.
Cool engine that V-16. I too wish them luck.

Back in 2013 the Wilson’s we’re doing some testing on my Ilmor Comp. Their Fountain race boat was the test bed for Ilmor’s SC test program. They Loved the 710’s with a SC. Made over 900HP and after 200 hours of use they tore the 710s down and there was hardly any wear on the engines at all. At least that’s what they told me.

I like the idea of the V-16 from Sixteen Power of a Naturally aspirated motor; Steve Morris Engines pictured below is making the two LS engines (V-16) work pretty well in testing with four 81 mm turbos.
