Tach shorting to ground?
#1
Hi All.
Has anyone heard of a tach intermittently shorting the signal wire to ground? It has happened to me twice on the same engine.
Five or six years ago, the starboard engine quit! No warning, no sputter, just stopped. Cut wire to tach, started right up! This time engine would run poorly occasionally. I swapped coils, and tps: no change. Just for the hell of it, I cut the tach wire and viola! It runs great.
I seems strange to me that I am having the same issue on the same engine. Am I missing something?
Specifics: 502s with Holley HP TBI small cap merc distributors and coils. Livorsi Industrial Series gauges.
If anyone else has had a similar experience, please tell me about it, an if have had any recurring issues after replacing the Tach..
Thanks,
Steve
