Hi all,
I am trying to convert a 1976 x18 with a Volvo 280 to an alpha 1 and have run into a snag. The steering on the inner transom assembly is blocking the exhaust port. I do not want to relocate the exhaust and am wondering if I can remove everything to the left of the nut and use an external ram. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Of course you could chop it off and go external ram.
Have in mind tough, the external ram bracket sits at the same height as the gimbal pivot point..
So check for ram clearance (there are both narrow rams, and wide) for the exhaust before you cut something off, or get the wallet out.
I have some pics of where my mayfair narrow style ram bracket is located in my donzi 21 hornet, but I cannot post pics yet.
