Default 1984 Apache 41′ Offshore Powerboat “Warpath”

This 41′ powerboat was built by Bobby Saccenti of Apache Powerboats in 1984 and won that year’s American Power Boat Association World Championships in Key West, Florida. Hull #001 spent time in Massachusetts before it was moved back to Florida, acquired by the selling dealer in 2007, and restored between 2007 and 2009. The boat features a Kevlar hull finished in blue and tan with period livery, and its three-place cockpit was reupholstered to match. Power comes from two supercharged 572ci big-block V8s paired with Speedmaster #6 outdrives. “Warpath” is offered with a custom-built aluminum All American triple-axle trailer, period photos, a certificate of authenticity, a clean Florida title for the boat, and a manufacturer’s statement of origin for the trailer.

The 41′ straight deep-vee hull is constructed from Kevlar and was designed for steady handling in rough open water conditions. As part of the 2007-2009 restoration, the boat was refinished by the original livery artist Gail Paik.

The mechanical portion of the restoration wasoverseen by Tom Evans, the crew chief and navigator for the 1984 championship races. A signed letter describing Evans and Paik’s involvement in the refurbishment can be seen in the gallery.

The open cockpit offers padded standing room for three crew, including separate people to man the throttle and centrally-mounted steering wheel. The tiered dashboard houses toggle switches, duplicate trim tab and drive angle controls, fuel valves, a trio of compasses, a suite of Gaffrig gauges, and two grab handles.

The throttles, steering components, and instrumentation were overhauled during the refurbishment. Approximately 15 hours of runtime have been added under current ownership. Total operating hours are unknown.

The twin 572ci V8s feature Littlefield blowers and straight-through exhausts. The engines were originally sourced from Keith Eickert under previous ownership, and are said to have been rebuilt by Barry Walker of Air Flow Technologies, during the project. Dynamometer testing at Chief Engines, of Fort Lauderdale, reported produced approximately 1,000 horsepower per engine. The seller states that the boat holds 360 gallons of fuel per engine. An April 2021 invoice from the Marine Shop can be seen in the gallery and work included flushing the fuel system, servicing the ignition, adjusting the carburetors.

Power is sent through a pair of wet-sump Speedmaster #6 outdrives, each with a polished aluminum skeg and a four-blade cleaver prop. The transom also houses a set of trim tabs with two hydraulic rams apiece.

The custom triple-axle All American trailer features aluminum construction, polished alloy wheels, diamond-plate fenders, carpeted bunks, a manual winch, a spare tire mount, and a toolbox.

A certificate of authenticity signed by the founder of Apache Powerboats Bobby Saccenti states that vessel AB841001F84 was the first 41′ Apache ever built and the winner of the 1984 World Championships.

A collection of photos taken in period is included in the gallery below, as are photos from the restoration. Additional memorabilia includes a Bobby Saccenti-autographed American flag which is said to have flown on the vessel during the 1984 World Championship.

As outrageous as that sounds, being the very first 41 ft APACHE to be built, I dont think the sale price is that crazy.....especially comparing what it costs to build a brand new 41ft offshore boat these days. I've never ridden in one, but I've owned 2 Cigarette Top Guns and a 40 Excalibur Hawk. I'd love to get a real world comparison by riding in a 41 Apache myself.....im sure everyone raves about the Apaches for a good reason....someday.

Oh, I hope it sold for $401k!! I was saying it was cute because it kinda coincides with people's retirement account 401k. Trust me, I know all about what it cost to restore one of these Apaches! Take a gander at the TomTom thread in the Apache Boats section. I shared many pics of the restoration. CHEERS!!
