Default Eliminator engine bay spatter

Anyone out there know the technique Eliminator uses on there engine compartments for gelcoat spatter? I’m doing my Cc engine compartment on my ‘02 Prototype 29 and want to finish it like that. These boats are pretty crude race boats and I figure it will help camouflage the rough. I have a lot of experience with gelcoat and glass but am having a hard time duplicating Eliminators technique. I’ve tried flinging it with a brush, I used a “dump gun” which is close. My friend says he did it with a drywall hopper.
any old employees out there that can clue me in?
