Default Custom Carved Lift Bunks for Stepped Hull?

We're having a new Neptune boat lift installed at our Florida home for our Nortech 340 Sport. The dock builder and Neptune Lifts are saying they can offer "custom carved bunks" for $2,900 that will match the stepped hull bottom? Is this needed or completely overkill? I highly doubt everyone with stepped hull boats is customizing their lift bunks to fit the bottom of their boats, or maybe people do this?

Never heard of custom carved bunks but yes you need the bunks setup to fit the boat. most lift have adjustments in them so they can be set up right

ok so looked them up online and it looks like they use two beams that run the length of the support needed. so yes it would need modifying to fit a step hull.

They lift I used supported it in multiple places not just two beams

On most of the lifts at LOTO, the bunks are just built up higher with "2 x 6" wood or composite to match the boat bottom.
Yes, you need the bunks to match the bottom of the boat for long term use

They do not need to be "custom carved". But you DO want them fitted to the hull. As mentioned above, usually they are just built up with additional strips of wood. If your boat lift installer is going to take care of all of the work of measuring your boat, and make sure this fits accordingly, that's probably worth a premium, but not THAT much premium.

I had a 340 Sport on my Neptune lift in Cape Coral for 4 years and my 390 on the same lift for 2 years. No issue, the bunks were whatever came standard with the lift.

I had a 4 post magnum lift installed last year for my Fountain. I got the hull specs for my boat and my installer fitted the bunks to match the steps, no extra charge. You could even do it yourself with some pressure treated wood and carpet, just cut them to match the steps. $2,800 seems pretty steep to me.
