Default When is a "boat" considered a "yacht"?

What length (or something else) would you consider a "boat" transitions to a "yacht"? Or do you just consider them all boats?

As with most things in life it is all relevant to your own deal. I sold for a Sea Ray dealer for over a decade and had buyers move up to a 240 Sundancer from a 220 Bowrider and they felt they had landed in Yacht heaven, porta-pottie and all.

Have a friend that recently bought a boat that the mfgr calls a 45 Yacht, while some mfgrs would put a 45 t the base of their big boat offerings, possibly even the poor man version of what they build.

As I said it is all relevant, but if I had close to 3/4's of a million to invest, a Yacht would be the last rapid depreciating asset I would pick for my money no matter how many of my friends would say Wow are you!
