I had a Fusion MS-RA770 installed in my AT and love it. It comes with a remote, but you can use you apple or android phone, apple watch, garmin watch and also you can control it on the Garmin chart plotter screen. My wife was controlling ours 25ish feet away on her apple watch with ease. If you still have my buddy John's phone #, give him a call or text. He can tell you anything you'd like to know on these.

You probably want a Bluetooth remote unit instead. Infrared is the typical type of remote and is limited in its range and by objects blocking the signal. Bluetooth has a larger range and can permeate through most objects.

I had the Fusion stereo and used the wireless controller. Worked pretty good. You can install them anywhere on the boat as they are battery operated and fairly cheap Around $60 a piece.

I also have the JL Audio stereo that can use wireless remote or wired remotes. I'm using wired, so i cannot comment on how the wireless works. But the stereo is quite pricey and either remote is additional in price.

So I called Sony support and found out the MEXN5100BT is compatible with the Sony music center app, so I down loaded the app to my phone, paired it to the head unit and I have full control of the radio from outside the boat....

Are you listening to music off the FM tuner or CD's. Most people bluetooth to their phones now. If you are bluetoothing to your phone or tablet you can get a bluetooth remote that will pair with your phone. Does not matter what brand phone or tablet

I have a similar app for my Pioneer head unit. The amount of tuning controls (12 band EQ & individual speaker gains/crossover controls) are amazing, let alone the remote control aspect. Makes it nice where you can stand in center of cockpit and tune the sound and not have to keep running in and out of cabin.
