Hey all, so finally got some pictures of a spot on the bow where the clear coat and gel.coat are pretty nicked up and gone. What would be the best way to repair something like this?
Photo is on the port side bow. Card for size reference.

First of all...is there an underlying CAUSE for it? I would carefully probe around a little bit and see if there are other areas ready to pop out. Something is causing the gelcoat to release from the laminate underneath.

Hard to tell from pic, but doesn’t look like original gel in this area from what I can tell? It looks as if maybe someone tried to fix area before. From the top of your card towards the stern I see a ridge.....unless its discolored and needs to be cleaned yet, hard to tell.

Part of it honestly I think is the boat itself is going on 33 years old. The clear coat all around is pretty rough, I just don't think it was maintained like it should have been finish wise. It's the only spot on the front end that looks like this so not sure. I'll get some better pictures today.

That has been repaired before. It looks like somebody used a paint roller on it and then never sanded and buffed it.
I doubt there is any type of clear coat on your boat, and especially not on the white gel coat.

I would ask around and try to find someone local that can take a look at it for you and give you a recommendation on a plan moving forward. Unless you’re looking for a temporary “band aid” covering the holes, To do it right, takes a little more than a gel coat color matching touch up kit.
