DIACOM Codes - Need help

I am a newbie to boating so you need to excuse my ignorance. I have a Chaparral with two Mercruiser5.0 MPI engines. I had a problem with my starboard engine (shut down) and so I used Diacom to read ECM codes (I didn't include the following alarms to meet the posting length restrictions [TRIM CKT HI, STEER CKT LO, FUEL LVL CKT HI and PITOT CKT LO] . The LOW DRIVE LUBE code is pretty obvious and I looked at the reservoir and it is empty. Would that cause the engine to shut off? Should I add additional lube in the reservoir and run the engine for a couple minutes to try and determine if there is a leak?
I also see "Starboard Clnt Overheat: 40" in the report, but don't know what the "40" means? I saw a previous post that indicated that the number indicates the temperature in Fahrenheit, but 40 degrees seem like it shouldn't cause an overheat condition.

If the drive lube reservoir is empty, then the drive could be toast. Its not a question of if there is leak. There definitely is.
Drain the lube and see what it looks like.
Also looks like you overheated the engine and have little to no water pressure
