Does anybody know what a merc502 efi motor makes as far as power goes? What are they rated at?
What can be done to increase these motors with out realy hurting reliability?

I was trying to get you a link to information at Mercurys web site to information on it but it looks like they have updated their website and I can't find the information I once had.
Another place you might try is
http://www.boattest.com/main.asp
right now some of the links don't work.

yes, 415 hp @ the propshaft,
i have never seen any crankshaft
hp #'s, would guess 445 hp, figuring
the drive eats up 30 hp (hp500=470pshp)
as far as the "increase"goes it depends
on how much your after, and how much $$$$
you want to spend.

The 502 Mag EFI works well with a stage 1 Procharger. I have one running 5lbs max boost with Stainless Marine exhaust and a reprogramed ECU. Have not dyno'd it but Procharger has done the same setup and got 620HP. It is very reliable, idles and shifts like a stock motor. You come on boost around 4,000 rpm and it really kicks in, up to that point it handles like a stock motor.
