This is a follow up to the budget way to 500hp thread i did.
I opened my valve covers today to check if the heads/rockers where as the seller said, they where.
But the issue i have is all the extra bs stuff in the heads! so much metal and plastic i was really surprised.
1 piece looks like part of a hose clamp and the grey pieces are hard plastic parts.
And all the metal shavings are probably my bearings.

Enough to make a grown man cry...
I did notice the valve covers where grinded down, also 1 rocker on each head for clearance. unless the weren't and worn themselves but i highly doubt that.
So here is my question. Does the metal piece ( clip looking one) look like anything that comes from inside the engine or is something that was dropped inside?
same for the plastic shavings... any plastic parts inside an engine?
I will be taking the pan off to further investigate, also will be calling the guy who sold me this
.

plastic/metal shavings

plastic/metal shavings

mix of plastic/metal shavings

plastic chunk

head overview

this is the clip looking part

same side as clip part, bunch of junk

I was gonna keep my mouth shut on the crankcase vent system the previous owner made on his old/your new engine, but I kept my fat mouth shut.
Well, now I won't. What the hell is this ? And was it because he was losing oil out the vc's ? Probably, as your motor has some issues I'm sure. That'ds a lot of crap in your heads.

If it's sitting in the heads - it's everywhere in the engine if it was run even for a few moments... That's a lot of EVERY kind of filing to flush through/ into an assembled engine.
Was the engine shipped with the filters on the engine? Pull them apart - then the engines.

I got a hold of the seller, sent him the pics, he was very understanding of my concerns, told him i was willing to bring the engine back for a full refund or take 6k back as rebuilding funds.
He wants the engine back. so tomorrow I'm getting my money back, very happy he is a good honest man, very disappointed I'm still looking for an engine.
I was sent a PM pointing out the parts of plastic and metal shards are Teflon valve seals.

Looks like broken up valve seals like Mike said. I bet the retainers are coming down and hitting the seals or there is nothing keeping the inner springs from walking around and hitting the seals. I personally do not like teflon seals. I have been using the later style metal cased seals for at least 20 years now.
