Hi All, just a warning to anyone working with Dave. He sold me a “working” XR upper. I brought it to my mechanic and popped off the top cap and steering cap and found rust on bearings, and a gear that was missing a tooth or two. I offer to drive it back to his house and he accused me of switching the drive out with another one. I’m out the $3500, but just letting people know my experience dealing with Dave.

Yes, you are right. I did mess up. I knew I should have just pulled both caps in front of him.
Haha well i may rebuild it (if parts become available in the near future) but I am going to try and save up for a brand new SCX. No more looking for used components in “working condition”

One would assume he knew the serial number and thus his game would have been up. So sad to see this stuff keep happening. With a few exceptions on this forum, money is pretty precious and to be out three or ten or twenty thousand dollars is devastating.

Yeah, there was no serial number on it. I was lazy and just trusted. Stupid move on my part. Regarding money, I’m not happy I’m out $3500. And honestly, if he would have called me and maybe give me half back so I could use towards a rebuild if parts come available, I would have thought that would have been fair. Maybe others have had better experiences with this guy, but this was my experience.

He did, but he accused me of basically switching out the drive for another drive cause his was working perfect and the list of stories and accusations kinda kept going.
