Default Bravo 1 - weak links

Hey all - in the process of getting my drive rebuilt using XZ gears. I was able to get a new set of lowers and a new clutch, but can't seem to find a 1.50 uppers to save my life. I need the boat by June, so worst case I can try to find a set of lightly used uppers. Would hate to do that, but might not have a choice since they've been on backorder forever.

When it comes to drive failures, is there a weak link or is it all a grenade waiting to go off? I guess I'm curious how much protection I'm adding by putting in a new set of lowers and clutch.

Thanks,
Todd

lowers and clutch aren’t the problem. usually it’s the uppers.

check out all American drive service….they focus on weak links in bravo’s. With that being said we are all stuck with junk merc gears.

You can always add a drive guardian for extra protection on your drives. I added them to mine even though I've got SCX's.

Upper gears are the weak link in all Bravo drives

But still, dollar for dollar it’s arguably the best drive available to most sportboat owners.

The clutch shaft bearing causes the gear failure so the clutch shaft must be modded. I had AADS do my drive and they re-engineered the clutch shaft. George has hundreds of broken clutch shafts and they all broke at the oil hole. He rebuilt my drive for less money than the parts would have cost me and I got a 24 month warranty.
