It's taking some time, but the shadows from the Pure Energy vinyl decals are slowly disappearing. Once I get those taken care of. It will be time to put the original Velocity decals back on the boat.

Wet sanding with an air powered DA and 1000 grit wet and dry sand paper. I've been taking it very slow because I didn't know how much gel coat was on the boat. Once I get everything where I want it, I'll go with 1500 and then 3000. Then I'll start buffing it back up.

Yes assume that the Gel Coat is quite thin! As mentioned before, the boats were built for minimal weight plus Steve was also cost conscience (kept him in business for 30+ years!) and did not believe in adding extra material to the smaller boats unless owner requested.

I've been able to slowly work my way down to where the yellowing from the old vinyl has disappeared. Now that I'm sure I can do that without going through. The work will move a little quicker now.

Half way there. One side De Cheesed and one side to go. The boat is also now legal so Momma and I can take her out any time now. I also spoke to Ryan Beckly at Kinetic Animation today about getting the new Velocity decals along with the rear corner decals and those should be coming in the next couple of days.

These boat had such nice lines to begin with. To stick those big red decals on it was just over the top IMO. It's going to yake some more work, but it will be worth it once I get it back to where it needs to be.
