New to OSO. Any advice is appreciated. I need a new shift cable for this boat. I understand which cable I need from Telflex but just trying to sure up what I think the length should be. I measure 8' from concealed side mount remote to back of the boat, 4' to middle of the engine compartment, 2' down to the connection point in the outdrive. It's a home-run shot from remote to outdrive through a rubber/plastic conduit. Is 14' sufficient or should I add more length for slack?

Check your cable should be a marking of its current length on it somewhere.
it sounds like it’s a teleflex it should say something like tfx##. Those 2 numbers after tfx is the cables length in feet. Morse is 3 digits and that’s it’s length in inches. Match it up order and you’re set.

Another question I have is related to the slack I currently have on the bad cable. I haven't removed the bad cable yet and can see no markings of any sort at either end to get a accurate number from the cable. There is a big loop of slack in the current cable that is probably 3 feet. It's my understanding that because this is a i/o and not a outboard, I don't need slack like that. With what I measure (14'), is that good or should I keep the extra slack?
