Default Bravo 1 gimbal housing question

On the gimbal housing pins I noticed on one side it has a bit of movement. I thought it was lose but it's not. I pulled the drive off to look more into it.
My question is do you have to replace the housing or is there a fix for the pins to screw in?

i just got the boat and there was a lack of maintenance to the boat. I have put hours in fixing it. It a 2000 sunsation dominator with twin 454 mag mpi, bravo 1 drives.

Thank you ,
David

If it has trim senders/ limit switch on the gimbal ring, the pins thread into the bell housing, if it doesn’t
It’s the HP transom assy and has the stainless pins that are held on to the ring by either 2 screws or
4 bolts, I’ve seen the hinge pins work loose on the std piece and the screws break on the HP

Are the wear pads missing on the upper unit where it contacts the gimbal ring flanges?

Jaayteee,
Thanks, for the quick reply...
I did see that the wear pads are missing on both drives. I need to order those.
Yes, it has the trim senders which are bad, i do have the replacement for those. The screw holes is bigger at first half way in the hole then it will grab the threads but at this point it's not grabbing the threads. (Hope that makes sense).. Is there a fix for this or do I have to replace the gimbal housing? The screw is not stripped nor is the hole. It's like the hole is wobbled out...

Thank you,
David

So the threaded holes in the bell housing where the hinge pins thread in are egged out?

Yes just the one side, the other side is good.

It's just big enough to not catch the treads but the pin stays in.

I’d be replacing it.

What rotation is this drive set at ?…..it makes a difference on which side of the upper that the wear
pads get worn on, if it’s been ran a while without a wear pad, the gimbal ring flange might be
galled up and will chew up a newly installed wear pad

It is the starboard side drive, which turns to the right. It the left side pin which is wobbled out.
So if I replace the gimbal housing and wear pads I should be ok?
What do you think?

Thank you,
David

Yes,
and check the inside face of the gimbal ring flange
( where it contacts the wear pad on the upper)

If it’s chewed up and lost material, it will need to be dealt with

Thank you so much for all your help. Once I get the new parts this week and put it all together then I'm going to dig into the other drive. I had to do so much maintenance to the motors. I got the boat really cheap but I know why now.. both motors only have 450 hours on them.. they run really good. I had to put a headliner in it . Redid a lot of the wiring to fix things up. Got it looking really good. Outside hull is in excellent condition. I changed the oils and want to make sure everything is working in good order ..

Thanks again for your help.
I will keep you posted when I get to the other drive or if I run into some trouble.

Thank you,
David
