Default Baja 252 Islander Bravo 1 Switch to Bravo 3

Hello I am considering switching to a Bravo 3 from a Bravo 1. My boat is a Baja 252 Islander with a 7,4 MPI completely stock with a 23 pitch prop. Has anyone done this conversion and if so what ratio drive would I use and with which props?

Thanks

I have the same boat, Bravo 1 running a 21" pitch Rev 4 prop. I've not seen any 252s with Bravo III drives, I have seen a couple of 292s. What is the main reason for the proposed switch? You get into a mix of outdrive ratio combined with prop ratio hell if you aren't careful.

I just destroyed the Bravo 1 and thought it might be a better choice.

I have a 252 formula. It’s a 330 hp 454. 2.20 drive 28 pitch props. A 2.0 drive with 26 would be the same I believe

Both drives are the same cost but switching to the bravo 3 will require the prop set, in easy numbers $1000.00. Before I did anything I would at least talk with two people, Dave at XT and Brett at bblades. I won’t say there are none but I’ve never seen a 232,252,272 with a bravo 3 so there is probably a reason and Dave at XT can tell you why, my guess is performance, the B3 is generally a 60 mph and less a 252 is a 62-64 mph boat

A B3 is an easy swap, just change the lower. Props cost more (because x2) and they bite really well. There more efficient band the also weight a bit more. Your old drive and prop are about equal to Bajaman with rev 4. If you do swap might need to increase ratio (guess 1:5 now and might need 1:65) so you can get in mid range of prop sets
