Guys,
I’m wrapping up a rebuild on my 72 SeaCraft Seafari 25’. It originally had 2 I/O’s in it. Somewhere along the line it was converted to OB. The weight and balance was all wrong causing water to pour in through the drains and ruining transom.
I bought it in this state and am doing a LS swap and putting a B3 on it. I found this B3 and am now rebuilding it.
no s/n’s on it anymore but shop said it was 0f-0m family.
the same shop didn’t know or want to do a thin floor to thick floor gear set. They told me I needed all new internals.
pinion does look ruined as does come clutch.
obviously bearings and spacers would be replaced.
but do gear sets look reusable? That’s where the expense is. I want to do it right but as cost effectively as I can. I am very mechanical and with the shop manual and some pointers I believe I can do this.
question is can you get just a new pinion and can (should) you put a new one in with old gears due to wear?
im looking for opinions on the parts and part numbers. Regardless I’m facing a $3.5k parts bill for Original setup wondering if I can upgrade the parts to make more durable or cut my parts cost…
thanks in advance.

Thank you griff looks like I’ll be doing a full rebuild.
I’ve got a fresh LS swap going in making 450isn hp.
Since I’m this deep should I just rebuild it with original setup like 43-803107t2 2.00 bravo helical gears
or do I look at upgrading to xr’s? If I’m spending 3.5-4K what’s the best bang for my buck? Max speed is about 60 calculated. Will spend most of its life high speed trolling Sometimes going for rides and want to get too and from grounds fast but reality is not likely to see super high speeds often due to ocean conditions in Hawaii
