Default Vision Marine Technologies Testing Electric-Powered 32-Foot Cat With 100-MPH Goal

That is really interesting. I love that story with team members, especially Weismann and Torrente, I wish them great success.

Electric speed is not a problem, there are probably more options here than with gasoline, but what about the range? This will be an unsolvable puzzle for speedboats for many years to come.
Also, if someone invents a powerful enough battery, it will need to be charged...

I hear your concerns, but my draw to this article is that they want to be the first who broke the 100 mph barrier with electric outboards in an offshore catamaran. To me this is like Steve Stepp in the breaking 100 mph in a 30' Velocity back in 1978, that was impressive, and a moment that stayed in my mind forever.

I don't care if this boat has a range of 10 miles, to break 100 mph in 3/4 of mile in this boat, that is impressive; and being the fastest, or the first to accomplish what others have not accomplished is the takeaway for me. I am not advocate for electric outboards, I am a traditionalist who would prefer a set Sonny Leonard mountain motors in a pleasure boat, but whether it is a car, motorcycle, snowmobile, boat, airplane, lawnmower, diesel truck, ect, I love to see who is the fastest, and how did that person make that form of transportation fast.

I hope the boat breaks the 100 mph barrier.
