Funny question - water shooting out of exhaust a minute or two after shutdown
#1
Port engine. After shutting down for flushing after being out, the odd bank puked some water under pressure. I've heard it do it before, but not consistently. This last time I caught a glimpse of it when climbing down the off the boat.
If anyone remembers from back in late 2020, I had signs of water intrusion on both 7 and 8 as well as some exhaust valve issues. The old heads (088s) ended up being junk from rust in the exhaust ports as well as intake face issues.
Headers - they're CMI etops - old - but they lived in brackish water for years and then only got into salt down here with two and a half seasons. They have been extensively pressure checked with a propane torch and water tank. They held over 40 lbs with the pressure increasing while heat was applied to the ports and collectors. I think they're good.
Anyone see anything like this?

Correct. When it shuts down, the pump drops pressure and no water should flow. This is sounds like there's a pressure release and then a splash. My buddy said it was a quart but I'm thinking more like half of that.
Maybe there's a blockage in the header somewhere that traps water, heats builds up and blows it out. I'll look at it more this weekend.

Is it possible you have some debris in the exhaust passages near the bottom of the pipes and its blocking some (but not all) of the water draining out of the exhaust....then when you shut down the hot engine boils a little bit of the liquid and burps it out? just thinking out loud..
