Default Raw water cooled Gen IV BBC TRS 370

Looking for spare TRS drives, I found a 24" day cruiser boat on a trailer. TRS 370. Has receipts (2013)from KC Marine for a rebuilt Gimbal housing and a rebuilt MercTrans.

Hasn't run since....and it shows...

Unfortunately, the Gen 4 BBc 454 is raw water cooled. As a 370, it has forged internals and 990 or 188 heads, and likely a 4 bolt.

How bad would the block be from trailering use, vs marina tie up?

My intent is to strip the 454 right down, and chemically clean the block. Removing loose scale in the jackets, and arresting the rusting process. Some options are backing and shot blast etc. Maybe the vinegar treatment, with a soda bath finish.

Sonic the block to determine life left.

Or is it impossible to remove the salt from the iron?

Would of course run it fresh water cooled after, with a hone and rings, or bore/pistons if required.

188/990 heads, I would likely just replace them, and get some smaller port aluminum, with an intake.

Looking for 450-475 HP at 5500-5700. Rarely ever run that hard. For my '76 Formula 233. Thinking a 21p Mirage+ would be a good prop, and easy on the MercTrans.
