Hello
I’m hoping someone can help me on this issues.
I have a Garmin Echmap94SV plus unit and using a Airmar P79 transducer.
I installed the transducer in the recommended area with RV anti freeze but not getting a depth reading. I tried contacting Airmar and they are no help and called Garmin with no help either.
I have seen Airmar makes many various models under the P79 transducer. Airmar indicated it should work.
apparently there is no way to test the transducer according to both manufacturers.
Before I purchase a Garmin similar unit I figured I would reach out to you all for advice.
thanks in advance

Pull the transducer out and put it overboard straight into the water and see if that works. If it does then call the boats mfg and ask if the bottom is cored. It may not be able to send the signal through the coring since it would see it as dead space.....you may need to cut the first layer of glass on the inside of the hull out and dig the coring out and glass it back solid to get it working.

Yes if you look at the Garmin capability list it shows P79.
However, P79 has sub part numbers associated.
Honestly, I’m think of just purchasing a Garmin transducer. Only problem is all support whether Airmar or Garmin is not very helpful

Verify that the transducer is functioning by placing it directly in the water level with the surface and slightly submerged. Use plumber's putty in place of the antifreeze and be sure it is packed in the cavity solid with no voids. Move the transducer to various places in the bilge until is reads. When you find the place, attach it in the bilge with silicone.
