Default Deck Rails

I could really use some help. I’m trying to decide if I’m opening up a can of worms trying to remove my deck railing around the sun pad to repaint. So I know I’m going to break the bolts (saltwater boat) that hold the rail to the blocks and I’m going to need new blocks ( I want new blocks anyway) but the small bolts that hold the block to the deck concern me. I found out The transom shower has a piece of aluminum sandwiched in fiberglass so there’s something for the screw To grip. Does anyone know if that holds true with each aluminum block? Those small stainless bolts would be seized in the aluminum and become a nightmare to drill out if they break off in the deck. The boat is a 2003 mystique T/S. Thanks

I would try spraying some good penetrating oil like PB Blaster or Croil everyday for a week or so, That may help to break free some of the crud.

Cig28,

You might try turning the screws back and forth a bit each time, to give the oil a chance to further penetrate.

Thanks. Brad.
