I’ve been up and down the beach road from the bridge to Bonita numerous times in the past week.

The devastation is unreal. There is a section on the south side of the island where for a 1/2 mile there is not a single house left on the beach and no houses for 5 lots back on the others side of the road.

The piles their building to just get some clearing done are mountains that they will have to separate and process the debris than haul it to the landfill.

Even though it has been 5 weeks now and they are nonstop cleaning up it still looks like a few days after the hurricane .

Main street down to Salty Sams is still a mess with boats everywhere and Gulf marine ways and The marina next door not making much headway.

Salty Sams has got all the floating docks cleared but now they have my buddies sailboat and his neighbors Searay to get off the mangroves.

Than they have around 15 sunk boats to deal with. They got my other buddies sailboat off the mangroves but no one inspected for leaks and it sunk 2 days later .
